Samples & testing
Samples from 1 unit and one test method for four scenarios
How to check an edge computer and a camera before purchase: benches, conditions, metrics. We publish it openly and issue the PDF without a phone number and without an account manager; a sample for testing — from 1 unit of any SKU.
Applies to any vendor
The test method is not tied to our devices: the same benches and the same metrics for any box and any camera. Compare us with anyone by the same rules.
Metrics, not impressions
Every scenario ends with a number: share of legible small text, share of frames without motion blur, connector failures after −25 °C, list of open ports.
The test report becomes an attachment to your RFP
Whoever writes the test method usually writes the tender requirements too. We suggest making the acceptance report part of your RFP (technical specification).
We publish the results — whatever they are
Measurements include conditions, limitations and stop reasons. Engineering results are available on the board test page.
Test method
Four scenarios
Each scenario — bench, conditions and metrics. The full version with report forms and pass / fail criteria — in the PDF.
- scenario 01
Stationary indoor camera
Bench and conditions
3 m test setup: shelving or a wall with small markings; illuminance 700 / 300 / 100 / 50 lx; four camera mounting positions (ceiling, head-on, on a pole, overhead); night mode without IR illumination
Metrics
share of legible small text (markings, numbers, price tags); detector mAP on frames from each camera; effect of IR on object color
- scenario 02
Fast motion in the frame
Bench and conditions
200 passes of an object through the working zone: conveyor, scanning zone, manipulator, hand; swapped object, missed object; rolling vs global shutter compared on the same scene
Metrics
share of frames without motion blur; detection accuracy; latency from frame to model result
- scenario 03
Outdoor, machinery and vehicles
Bench and conditions
sun and headlights in the frame (WDR); night with IR illumination (snow, rain); vibration table / driving around the yard; water wash-down; −25 °C in a freezer for 2 hours and +50 °C in a closed cabinet; voltage sag (brownout)
Metrics
legibility of license plates and markings in backlight; false alarms at night; connector failures and fogging; behavior under voltage sag
- scenario 04
Security check of every camera and device
we do this ourselves before handing over samples — and deliver the report together with the deviceBench and conditions
nmap of all ports; monitoring of outbound connections (vendor cloud, P2P); password change and UPnP disabled; model checked against the FSB notification registry and for an EAC declaration
Metrics
list of open ports; list of external addresses (must be empty); ability to disable the cloud through standard settings
